Rädlinger supports "classroom at the flooded gravel pit"

On the gravel excavation site of Lenz-, Ziegler-, Reifenscheid a "classroom at the flooded gravel pit" was created this year. The classroom consists of a circle of seats made from stones and test benches. Around the seating area, so-called "gabions", which are filled with all kinds of different types of rock, were erected and are used as exhibition  material for the rock variations. The open air classroom is intended to give school classes and groups of children of all ages the opportunity to find out more about and to experience the sand and gravel pit as a valuable habitat.

In the spring, the organisational team for the "classroom at the flooded gravel pit ("Klassenzimmer am Baggersee") came to Rädlinger with a request for Bunter sandstone, in order to familiarise the public with this type of stone within the scope of the classroom.

Rädlinger was immediately prepared to support the classroom at the flooded gravel pit and delivered a Bunter sandstone boulder from the Haseltalbrücke construction site on the A3 motorway as a sample rock. The "Classroom at the flooded gravel pit" was officially opened on 14/09/2011.
