Earth cutting for the Irlbach high-water protection project

On date 30th June 2009 there occurred the earth cutting for the high-water protection Irlbach, Section 2 and location protection. The company Josef Rädlinger Bauunternehmen GmbH is instructed with the civil engineering works to ensure the high-water protection of a section of the Irlbach polder. The extension of the high-water protection amounts to approx. 2,875 m length in total.

The building operations for the second section of the Irlbach high-water protection have already begun, with a total investment volume of about ten million Euro. Symbolically the parties responsible inserted spades into the soil and indicated their delight with the progress of the construction measure, whose completion is expected by the end of next year.

The Irlbach polder is located on the right bank of the Danube. As early as in the 1930's, a high-water protection system was constructed for the polder. The existing high-water protection systems offer protection against an approx. 30-year high water event. With the construction now envisaged, the populated areas should be protected against a 100-year high-water event, in accordance with the Bavaria state development program.
